Personal Information:
About Me:
Beyond my family, my greatest love is teaching. I know that I am making a difference by teaching students how to learn and preparing them to succeed when they graduate into an unknown future.
College and Degrees:
Graduated from Oregon State University with a Master of Arts in Teaching (Elementary Education), and a Bachelor of Arts in Latino/Chicano Studies. I also have a Bilingual/ESL and a Gifted and Talented Endorsements.
Activities:
I have a lot of activities that I do based on the time of year. During the school year I podcast, maintain my website, write science curriculum, create a class yearbook on DVD, a host a science mentoring program. In the summer I teach Curriculum Institute, hike, bike, garden, and practice my photography on my family. :)
Favorite Books:
Way too many to count! Just a few memorable ones are the Lord of the Rings Series, Ranger's Apprentice Series, and Pride and Prejudice.
Favorite Quotes:
My mother, a teacher, used to always say, "Life is a school, learn all you can." I have always loved the quote, "Whoever does not love his work cannot hope that it will please others." (Author Unknown), because I love to go to work every day to see my 6th graders and I know that they can tell!
Interests:
Even when I am not teaching, I am drawn to anything that has to do with science, technology, engineering, math, etc. I am currently looking into pursing my technology endorsement, and later a National Board Certification for Teachers.
