I have a class of six preschool students whose ages range from 3-5 years old. All of the students have a variety of mild to moderate special needs ranging from developmental delays, speech delays, fine motor delays and emotional/ behavioral issues. They are active and eager to learn, so the more hands on materials and activities they have access to, the better!
Position:
Special Education Preschool Teacher
Needs:
The curriculum I use promotes many hands on activities in various learning centers. A good curriculum allows the teacher to tailor the curriculum so that the issues and interests of the students are addressed. There are many tools and resources available that can enhance the students learning experiences. New research is showing that preschool special needs students benefit from tools such as the iPad 3 tablet. I researched (and tested with the students) several preschool apps on a borrowed iPad 3 tablet. I am convinced that having three new iPad 3 tablets in my classroom would enhance my students learning experiences. My goal is to receive three new iPad 3 tablets in my classroom. This would allow me and related staff to develop both structured and individualized programs integrating relevant iPad applications.
My Philosophy:
Children learn by doing. My students have challenges, but are capable of, and do make academic and social/emotional gains over the course of a school year. The team of dedicated staff who work with my students also believe that having the best resources to enhance the students education and learning experience goes a long way in making a difference in the students lives.
