Class Description:
I provide services to the entire building. The amount of children I work with varies depending on our needs. We believe in flexible groupings and meeting the needs of each learner.
Position:
Curriculum Consultant/ AIS Reading Provider
Needs:
We are a high poverty school. Many of our children come to us in at the kindergarten level unprepared for school. Our latest data indicates that 1 in 20 of our kindergartners come to us unable to identify their letters. This is a deficit we work hard to overcome. One way we work on this is with our early lieracy program called, CLIMB. Every student grades K-3 receives CLIMB services 4 days a week. (The 5th we use to assess progress.) This instruction is provided by the classroom teacher, a teaching assistant and reading reading specialist. We identify areas of need and have the children rotate through small group to master those literacy skills.
