Single Unit Why I need this:
I need Chromebooks because access to computers/Chromebooks is limited in my school. I try to incorporate the use of computers every day in my classroom. My lessons are student-driven. I have students researching and discovering key concepts and creating computer-based projects (virtual labs, presentations, documents, flyers, brochures, letters etc.) all the time. However, there are limited computers within the school and then we completely lose the use of our computers when state test is being administered. My classroom could benefit greatly by having a set of Chromebooks available to use every day.

Class Description:
Currently, I am teaching Environmental science. The class is a flipped classroom in the respect that much of the work is self-discovery by the students and I facilitate their learning by guiding them to research and discover concepts first hand. We are involved in community projects and work together within the town to learn environmental concepts and improve the sustainability of our community.

Needs:
We are in high need of technology for the classroom. The way our lessons are set up we are utilizing computers every day (or close to it). Our school does not have money to purchase Chromebooks (laptops for each class so we are in a constant struggle trying to plan around the use of the computers we have. It would be so beneficial to have a class set of Chromebooks that stay in my classroom.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy it that every student has the ability to learn, we as the teacher just needs to find the connection with each student in order to meet their need individually as well as the whole.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach for my students. I love coming to work every day to have the opportunity to impact my students in a positive way. The best moments are those times when students discover a concept for the first time and experience the excitement of learning something new.
