Single Unit Why I need this:
Students in my classroom all have their own netbook computer - when working on a website or project that requires audio the room can get a little chaotic. It would be a great help for all students to have their own headphones.

These lightweight stereo headphones can be personalized with a student or teacher name, classroom number or school!

Aurora West College Preparatory Academy
Hometown:
Michigan
Class Information:
Room Number: c213
Students per Class: 105
Class Description:
I teach Physics to 9th graders who are striving to be college students in a community that creates a limited number of high school graduates. We use a hands-on approach to learning and are fortunate enough to have computers for all our students. With technology and hands on labs, we are working our way through some heavy science curriculum to get to the opportunity of a lifetime.
Position:
Physics teacher (9th grade)
Needs:
We need any help we can get! Our current class has computers, but we need computers for our future classes. We also need money to purchase more of the hands-on lab supplies that make science come to life.
My Philosophy:
All students can learn at a high level regardless of their home situation or prior education background, it just takes more time for some. We work at our school to give students the extra time to catch up when it doesn't sink in the first time. The extra time offers students a smaller teacher: student ratio and allows for a lot of growth.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I grew up in Michigan and found my way to Colorado with my husband about 5 years ago. I have been loving it ever since, but am also thankful that my family is still in MI for visits to the water.
College and Degrees:
University of Michigan BS in Microbiology EasternMichigan University teaching certificate
Activities:
excercising my dogs, coaching soccer and basketball, skiing, reading, enjoying life
Why Do I Teach?:
I have the unique opportunity of teaching students who are almost all future first generation college students. There is nothing more magical than seeing a student recognize for the first time that they are in control of their future. I teach to show students in our school's community that they can be what they want to be despite the challenges that life has put in their way.
