Cary Reynolds Elem School
Hometown:
Atlanta, GA
Class Information:
Room Number: 51
Students per Class: 18
Class Description:
Our school is a Title I school, meaning that the majority of our students are living in poverty. My students are mostly non-native English speakers. I have students from Vietnam, Mexico, Guadamala, and Bangladesh. 10 of the 18 students are receiving ESOL (English as a Second Language) services 45 minutes each day, and still others are monitored for continued improvement in the English language.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
We need more and more experience with the English language, and I think the use of digital cameras will help my students document and rehearse the daily images and English that they are so rapidly learning.
My Philosophy:
Every child can learn. Children learn through social experiences and need an active learning experience that they can talk about. Learning should be authentic, closely tied with personal experience, and meaningful. I work my students hard and maintain high expectations for every student. My instruction is differentiated for individual instructional needs, learning styles, and interests. I work hard and find my work very rewarding. My students, in return, work hard and learn lots. I am very proud of them. I hope I will be able to secure resources to make their learning experiences more meaningful.
