Class Description:
My room is the Learning Center. It is a safe place where I work with students on areas that are struggling with in a larger setting. I use manipulatives, technology, games, art, whatever works.

My Philosophy:
All children can be successful in school, they just need to discover how they learn, get strategies to help them be successful, and believe in themselves.

About Me:
I spent the majority of my working life in the business world; fashion merchandising and publishing a social planning calendar. I trained and managed people, having high expectations for them as I do for myself.
College and Degrees:
I have a degree in Urban & Regional Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, and received a CA Clear Teaching Credential in Mild-Moderate Special Education as a District Intern with LAUSD. I am currently working on my Master's in Educational Therapy at Cal State Northridge.
Activities:
Reading, yoga, jewelry making, bicycling, attending professional developments, and hanging out at home with my family.

Began in department store sales and continued to asst. buyer and asst. store manager; Diamond and precious stone sales to Major Dept. stores; Owned and operated a fashion eyewear company with my former husband; Editor of Los Angeles Masterplanner; Special Day Class teacher and Resource Specialist with LAUSD.
Why Do I Teach?:
It is my passion. My children have learning disabilities, and I questioned many things about their education. I decided I can complain, or become involved in looking for solutions. I belong to several professional organizations, go to professional developments in my spare time. Since I went into education later in life, I feel the need to play catch up.
