Invasive permissions?Just installed this, but haven't used it yet. A bit wary at this point. Why does this app require access to my personal info? I'll gladly change my rating if someone can explain why this app requires so many invasive permissions. I just fail to see the need for the access.

Great...but room improvement. It has a great selection of phrases (not all of which you can practice pronunciation with) although colours would be a nice addition. One part that's getting me though is that the examples of pronunciation are at normal speed but can be difficult for a newbie to hear. Would like an option to slow it down so can hear easier and build up speed. Nifty app but always room for improvement.

Very usefulNow this is useful! I've seen many "learn Chinese" programs in over 3 years of living in China. This is very user friendly. The only reason I dropped a star is there seems no way of really getting the words to stick in your memory, no learning technique as such. For example I repeat the word perfectly first time, doesn't mean I can remember it . But, still a very well designed and useful app.

BrilliantGives you vocab as well as full sentences to help you have proper conversations in Mandarin. Has pinyin & characters. Also love that it tests your pronounciation. Really good starting point for basic Mandarin.

Stellar AP!Works well. Alot of phrases. Could use a quiz mode, but still worth a try. Annunciation through repeating into mic can be tricky, as the voice seems a bit quiet. All in all, amazing for free!
