The invention of the iPad changed the lives of many people with Autism. The iPad gave them a voice and the ability to be more productive members of our society. I work with autistic students who demonstrate great potential for using iPads for communication purposes (these students cannot express themselves verbally), but do not have personal iPads, which they could carry with them and use to talk to others. Presently, I teach my students prerequisitory skills that will allow them to use iPads as assistive communication devices in the future. Many of my students are ready to start using the iPads today. The only thing that is stopping them is the absence of the iPads. I really hope that you will be able to change my students’ lives and give them the means to communicate more efficiently and acquire all necessary academic skills.
