1. Students will be broken off into small groups of 3-4 students each.
2. Each group will choose a region of study.
3. Student will go to the library and find books related to people, places, and interests of their region.
4. Each group will create an outline listing important facts, products, people, places from their region.
5. Students will create a travel brochure for their region.
6. Brochures will then be used to teach the other students about the different regions.
7. A follow-up activity of taking the information from the brochures and creating a power point will be done.
8. Students will then do a class project of taking the important dates and making a line graph.
Comments
This a great lesson for including all academic levels within one lesson. This also allows for all students to use their strengths to show what they are learning. This is an excellent lesson for use in inclusion rooms.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Students will then take their brochures and and create power point presentations with the information. They will also as a class take important dates and create time lines for math instruction.
Follow-Up
Students will share their brochures with other classes and teach them about the regions.
