I teach children with moderate to severe developmental disabilites in a Special Day Class at a fully integrated campus. The children are in grades K-2. The 16 children in the class all learn at different paces. It is the challenge of the teacher to provide access in all domains for each child at their unique level. The programs help to make that happen. In the lesson plan I will demonstrate how all children can learn at the same time, but at different rates.

The lesson plan would involve all children actively involved in learning at 4 stations around the room. There would be an teacher in the form of parent or aide at each station. All of the stations would be set up with the Individualized Education Plan goals for each child. Every 20 minutes children would rotate to each station. (1) The computer station would have 3 computers with software for each child programed into it. The child would find their name (with help) and begin to work. (2) The digital camera station would have the children going on a walk around the first grade classes, taking pictures of their friends or activities they enjoy. These pictures would later be made into a book, designed by the child (3) Interactive learning station set up with a laptop, wireless mouse, and an adapted Intellikeys keyboard, with help the children would be practicing their reading and typing skills, (4) Using the "All about Series" the children would be matching and reviewing the unit they practiced the day before during computer time.

During the course of the week all children would have access to computers on a daily basis. Checklists would be used at each area to ensure the children have access to the skills they need to make progress. Children are motivated to use the computers and behaviors are minimized. Often the children do not realize they are learning.
