After learning about basic housing styles and features. Students can take the cameras to home shows, open houses, to create a project of features they would like to incorporate in their future homes. They will be creating a project board of a home, and can use these pictures to show what their home would include.
For a project leading up to this; students will learn about different home styles, and roof styles. They can find actual houses in the community with these types, and take pictures of the homes for their project.
These would be great "hands-on" projects for the housing unit. It would increase learning and appreciation of the different housing stock in our community,
Students will also need to create a "before" and "after" project in their own home.
Students will need to take before and after pictures of an area of their home that they set out to improve.
I have used the home project idea in my clothing class as well. I have had to send students to the librarian so that she can take a before and after picture of the items students bring in to do a makeover on. Last school year it was a bust. First semester, the disk she had in the camera was broken, so all the pictures were lost. Second semester, I sent the students up 3 times, and someone had the camera out, and did not return it. So neither time were we able to have pictures. |
