Bringing Social Studies and History "alive" to nine and ten year olds is a difficult task. Generally this involves reading a boring, fact-filled chapter in their California Social Studies book and forgetting everything they just read.

In order to make learning fun and incorporate Social Studies with technology and Art, we plan to use the facts we learn about California explorers to make them 'come to life" through clay and animation. This will be the students' interpretation of the explorers, what they looked like as described in the text and seen in illustrations, and the important actions they took in the formation if our current state.

The students will share their projects with the entire school during an assembly.
Materials: Animation, Tripods
