Grades 7 through 12
School: Westwood Hills Christian School, Gainesville, FL
Planned By: Vicky Traylor
Original Author: Vicky Traylor, Gainesville
Objective: To review and practice mathematical skills related to lessons and FCAT preparation. Also to expose students to real world problems and concepts.

One of the activities the students enjoy is when I put them into teams. They are shown a problem from the projector, it may be an example problem from FCAT or the lesson we are currently studying. Each team receives a pile of sticky notes (each team receives a different color of sticky notes). The students on their team work together to solve the problem. They then pick the correct letter, and write the answer on one sticky note. When they are finished, they fold the sticky note and stick it to the board in front of the room, under the name of their group. They continue you this through a number of problems that they solve. After we finish the problems, you have a board full of stick notes all different colors. The students think it looks really cool. After we have finished we then check the answers, if a group misses an answer, their sticky note is removed. Whatever group has the most sticky notes at the end wins the contest.

They really enjoy the competition and are working together to solve the problems. This activity is also be used across the curriculum.
