First, I downloaded "Ice Ice Baby" into Garage Band so that I could edit it. Next, I created a new version of that popular song, so that the particular chorus repeated. For example: I took the song Ice Ice Baby and edited it in Garage Band so that phrase repeated several times. Then, I brainstormed as a class long i words that are spelled i_e. We listed them on chart paper and hung them up. Then, I handed out a paper template that read, "_________ ___________ Baby!" I asked the kids to pick one of the long i words to place twice on their template. For example: "Strike Strike Baby". Then one by one I video taped them singing their new verse to the song as the music played and they held up their paper template. Once all were recorded. I used the flip video to video my class dancing to use as an into. Last, I uploaded all the clips into the flip video software and created a class rock video.
Comments
I would love to have more than one camera to let my students video each other and to use in many other lessons.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
We have made many other videos such as math videos and reader's theater skits.
Follow-Up
My students LOVE watching our "rock" videos and sharing them with their families.
