Focus: All ISTE Standards, Social Studies standards, Research, Speaking/Listening, Life Skills, Math - budgeting
Prep: Students will be given a realistic budget for a 3 day vacation. Using a google spreadsheet, keep tabs of costs.
1. Book a round trip flight using an airline that travels to your chosen state. Must screenshot the itinerary page and payment.
2. Will you need to rent a car or take public transportation? Research costs and screenshot.
3. Book a hotel for your stay. Choose one based on landmarks you plan to visit.
4. Create an itinerary for landmarks. Why is it a landmark? Is there a cost to visit?
5. Create an itinerary for popular food places using Yelp, a popular tool for tourists. Estimate how much each meal would cost.
6. Budgeting - did you go over the budget given? How much more? Could you have cut costs somewhere?
7. Present findings to the class using a slideshow using screenshots, photos, and links.
Extra Credit: What's specific to your state? Food/fruit? Type of music? How can you showcase this to the class? What materials can you bring? |
