Objectives:
Students will:
1. Work appropriately in cooperative groups
2. Practice accessing a podcast and using various features such as pausing, rewinding, and fast-forwarding the program as well as other technical aspects of using the podcast.
3. Participate in a class discussion about podcasts using what they have learned
4. Listen to a podcast and record key information and content from the podcast using a graphic organizer chosen by the teacher (Inspiration)
5.Participate in a class discussion and/or written about how they completed the content on the graphic organizer as well as what they learned from listening to the podcast.
6. Complete a culminating follow-up activity that illustrates what was learned from the podcast.
7. Use content from online resources and Tool Factory Podcasting resources to learn about the steps necessary for producing a podcast.
8. Work in small groups to plan a podcast (using a podcasting planning form) that is appropriate for the classroom about life in Middle School to be shown to incoming 6th graders.
7. Work in small group to produce an original podcast and share it with classmates.
8. Evaluate the content of the podcasts produced by their classmates by using an evaluation form to provide feedback (using a peer evaluation form and rubric).

We have a few flip video cameras, but it would be nice to have the mobile lab listed below.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This project will include the integration of Technology, Language Arts (reading and writing), and Social Studies (Character Education).
Follow-Up
Once the students create their Podcasts and evaluate them and then refine them, they will be shown to outgoing 5th graders and incoming 6th graders to help them fit in smoothly to the new middle school life they are about to begin.
