Objective: Given i pads and specialty reading apps non-reading special education students will have the opportunity to increase their reading abilities and confidence on a daily basis.

Lesson:

1. A short introduction on rules and procedures on how to use and maintain the technology.

2. Students will create a login and password for the program app.

3. Students and teacher will select a level to begin basic reading skills on.

4. Students will work on their reading skills using the i pad for the first 20 minutes of class daily.

5. Students will increase their reading abilities and move up in lessons as they complete them.

6. Students will be quizzed on knowledge that they obtain during the lessons by the teacher.

7. Students will be rewarded on a weekly basis for any increase in their reading abilities.

8. Students will be able to read high frequency words with fluency and prosody by the end of the school year.

Comments
Students who can not read by the 7th or 8th grade level due to any type of learning disability often tend to have very low self esteem and confidence in school. I want to give these students who are often "looked over" an opportunity to learn how to read with a different approach than the traditional way. They learn differently therefore MUST be taught in a different manner so that they feel successful.
