Class Description:
My classroom is the art room where I see about 150 or more students a day. I have 60 Pre-schoolers, 538 Grades K through Grades Five. I teach 38 Gifted students in Grades 3- 5 and a Gifted Special Needs group of artists which is multi-generationalclass.Our school make up is 54% Hispanic,30% White,20%Black,3%Asian and 1% Island Pacific
Position:
Art/Talented and Gifted Art Program
Needs:
My students are in needs of basic technology equipment which enhance the curriculum which would align with the state Visual Art Standards. We are in desperate need of a laptop for a mimio board wand that we won from another contest. My school district does not value specialists to give them technology ,so we rely on "hand me down technology" from classroom teacher or through away computer that no longer are usable. I don't mind a refurbished laptop as long as it works.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is to do all that I can for my students. I try begging, writing grants and calling companies that are going out of business and have supplies of any kind(ribbons, wallpaper swatches, buttons, construction paper, bond paper, newsprint, cardboard, crayons, markers, colored pencils, anything to do with art I can use. We have no money in the budget for art but art goes on any way.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach a subject that is near and dear to my heart. I give back to my community and to my students by empowering their minds. I challenge their minds through art to look at the world to contribute or change it. I enpower them to think outside the box.
