Kentucky Avenue School
Hometown:
Pittsburgh, PA
Class Information:
Room Number: Middle School

Position:
library instructor
Needs:
LCD projector, white board, library shelves (4 feet high, 3 shelves), library books, cameras + pc cameras + video cameras for students to post images and vodcasts to wikis/blogs.
My Philosophy:
Encourage class participation - students learn best from each other. Build upon knowledge that the students already have. Encourage class collaboration - in class and online. I have established a wiki site http://kasmiddle.pbwiki.com/with our lessons and I'd like the students to join me in editing the site. I also established a del.icio.us account, kasmiddle, for collaboration. Developorganization skills - We want the students to learn to navigate the web safely, and in an organized manner. Organization is their key as their list of assignments each school year will grow, and while the web is a terrific tool, it can also be a terrific waste of time. We are teaching organization skills with spreadsheets, wikis, organization theory, del.icio.us accounts.
