Vaughan Elementary School
Hometown:
Ridgeway, NC
Class Information:
Room Number: 136
Students per Class: 270
Class Description:
My class is the library so I have the privilege of seeing every student in the school at least once a week. We are a rural, Title I school with 80% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. 69% of our students are on grade level. We have met AYP for the past four years! That is certainly something to celebrate. However, we are working hard to get an even higher percentage of students at or above grade level.
Position:
Media Coordinator
Personal Information:
College and Degrees:
I have a BS in Psychology from Barton College in Wilson, NC. I completed my teacher certification through classes at a number of local universities and received licensing through the Regional Alternative Licensing Center of North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. I received my Master of Library Science Degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love to see the look on the students' faces when they finally understand something new! I also love to see how excited students get when listening to all the wonderful books we have in our library. I want them to learn if they read, they can go anywhere their imagination takes them.
