PS 97 Forest Park
Hometown:
Huntington, NY
Class Information:
Students per Class: 550
Class Description:
I teach music and theater.
Position:
Music/Theater teacher
Needs:
As a brand new music teacher this year, I was severely underfunded and had to supply my own curriculum/instruments.I am limited to purchasing on ShopDOE which has few options.
My Philosophy:
I believe children learn best with hands-on activities that foster imagination. Through theater, storytelling for younger kids and podcasting with older kids, allows them to practice speaking naturally. Since most of our students are ENL, practicing speaking English is especially important for their growth. Music is an interdisciplinarysubject, it connects to reading, math, history, etc. I want to create an amazing program that will foster growth in music appreciation and theory.
