Professional Learning Institute
Class Information:
Class Description:
PLI is a CHALLENGING school where every student is expected to work hard toward their goals of becoming the best possible version of themselves. We foster conditions that promote active learning for each individual student by following a continuous cycle of researching, planning, performing, analyzing, and applying results, so that students not only meet the district graduation requirements, but also develop the tools to be successful in life whatever profession they choose. My particular class has students with moderate cognitive disabilities age 14-21. We mostly work on transitional and life skills lessons.
Position:
Special Education
Needs:
My students have very little experience with technology and need to have those experiences to succeed in life. We need equipment that will allow for hands-on learning and support auditory needs for my students with hearing impairments.
My Philosophy:
Learning is something that everyone does, everyday, for their entire life. The best learning comes with the best equipment, and making the best out of what you have.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I started teaching in fall of 2008 and I love what I do. I can't imagine doing anything else.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love learning and I love my students! I teach because of the little moments - like when my students ask if I can keep reading.
