For this project, students will form cooperative groups with a common purpose. Their purpose will be to create standards-based books by utilizing digital cameras. The groups will be assigned a topic taken from state and national standards. These topics will include concepts from math, social studies, science, reading, and language arts. The groups will then brainstorm ideas and complete a brainstorm web based on their ideas. At this point, they will check in with the teacher to make sure they understand their assigned concept. Groups will then plan what they feel will be the best examples of the concept. Groups will be given a digital camera to use to photograph their examples. The students will then work in their cooperative groups to download and edit their pictures, write captions and text for their book, and format the layout of their book. The books will be printed with the use of a color laser printer. The culmination of the project will be a class presentation of their photographs and book.
