I am writing on behalf of my students. We are a Title 1 school comprised of 97% free and reduced lunch households. Our district has started a program called BYOD, Bring Your Own Device. This allows students to use technology during lessons and for creative project presentations. Being a school where many homes cannot afford meals or clothes, technology is sparse. I am writing to Disney in hopes that they can make a commotment to funding my classroom for 5 iPad minis. I have many activities, projects, and events ready for the class, but lacking the technology to finish them.
Ideas include:
-researching their family tree and developing a webpage to display their information.
-Creating a virtual brochure that links pictures and pages to other sites for more information.
-Creating blogs about their favorite things to share with others.
-video chat sessions in teams with schools across the globe
-wiki pages for each unit of study we hit that will act as virtual notebooks.
