School: Horizon Science Academy - Dayton High School, Dayton, OH
Planned By: Rosalyn Craig
Original Author: Rosalyn Craig, Dayton
Students do centers every day for an hour. They rotate around five centers. The centers consist of Math, Computers (which sometimes work), Letter work, Language Arts skill (rhyming, syllables, sorting, etc), and Working with the teacher. Students are in groups of four and move to a new center every ten minutes.

I would like to replace one of the centers each week with tablet use. Students would be able to take full advantage of the tablets using apps that will allow them to learn in an engaged way. Students will be able to learn hands on and practice their skills in a way that they enjoy. Apps will allow me to find games/programs for the students to work on that fit in all of the above categories for centers! Having these tablets would greatly increase my kindergarten student's ability to demonstrate what they know, as well as enjoying practicing. Many times my students rush through activities to get done, but I know that with tablets, they would never want to stop!
Comments
This would be such an excellent resource for our underprivileged students!
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
These tablets could and would be used in every single subject area.
