Class Description:
"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in the way that child can learn." -Ignacio Estrada I serve a population of ELL scholars that are eager to learn! My scholars love learning so much that dismissal time is the saddest time of the day for them. This excitement is contagious and I hope to continue to encourage this spirit in order to develop lifelong learners.
Position:
Educator
Needs:
I would like to make iPads available to each of my scholars to explore technology and meet the demands of the new common core standards. Scholars would be able to use iPads to do research based projects, participate in problem-based learning projects, listen to books, create stories using iMovie and digital storytelling, read and record stories, play many academic games and use research based interventions. Withthe iPads, I will be able to maximize my instruction by using differentiated instruction to meet the needs of not only students needing extra support but those students above grade level as well. Having this type of technology will aide in students being able to access the curriculum in multiple ways at various academic levels. These students and future students in my class will benefit from learning technology skills needed for the future.
My Philosophy:
As 21st century learners, my students' minds are stimulated by technology. Their motivation and engagement increases with the use of digital resources. I try to make sure my students are able to express their intellectual gifts through technology and education. It is important to me to infuse technology into my curriculum whenever possible to help prepare my scholars to become global leaders.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been an educator for over 20 years and I have loved every minute of it! I teach in a large urban district. When I first started teaching, I had the rewarding opportunity to teach in the elementary school that I attended as a child. I promised myself I would learn something new each year to sharpen my craft. I have been an educator for over 20 years and I have loved every minute of it! I teach in a large urban district. Favorite Quotes:
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. -Barack Obama
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love the kids! It is such a rewarding feeling to be able to make a difference in the lives of little ones. There were many great teachers along the way that believed in me and inspired me. It is a blessing to be able to do the same for others.
