The 2/3 teachers will use the workshop approach with digital portfolios. Students will have a one to one and half hour session once a week focusing on digital portfolios. This time will consist of a mini-lesson of some type. These mini-lessons would include the procedures used during the portfolio workshop, technical lessons and metacognition. Students would then have work time to review their paper artifacts, reflect on their learning and record their work digitally. During this time, the teacher would be also conferencing with students at different levels. The portfolio workshop would end with a time for students to share the work they are adding to their digital portfolio.

At the end of the school year, as students complete their digital portfolios, families would be invited to attend a celebration so that students could share their work. Two copies of the student portfolios would be burned onto a CD- one for the student to keep and one for the school.

Cross-Curriculum Ideas
We are focusing on our Primary Years Programme unit planners this year, encompassing science and social studies. Our goal is to use digital portfolios across the curriculum and throughout the entire school within the next two years.
Follow-Up
We will share the digital portfolios with families during our student-led portfolio conference in March. Students will receive a DVD copy of the portfolio at the end of the school year and a DVD copy will be kept at school.
